Vintage Villas open house

 

 A few more ideas from the Vintage Villas open house-- this is one I particularly love and hope to design for someone's wedding-- I love the lanterns lining the  walkway and accenting the petal pattern.

 

As discussed before this is not the most cost efficient decoration but it sure is spectacular!  I think this would look great in yellow!

 

A few lanterns-- we have pink,green,blue,white and black in our inventory. When you select a full service wedding florist, they will have the inventory to make your design process a little easier!

We recently provided some florals for the open house at Vintage Villas.

Here is one of our favorites-- the linen selections were dark brown pintuck accented with the teal runners--when I heard the combo I immediately thought of bright green flowers accented with peacock feathers. So many possibilities for a wedding-

 

The small components featured a single feather tucked into a ribbon with a floating candle.

 

A bigger look-- I love the spider mums as a submerged flower especially in these 24' square vases-- we just added these to our inventory-- 

Fall has arrived!

Here is one of our first fall weddings of the season-- and even the weather cooperated for us!

I love centerpieces with multiple components, the tall square featured a floating candle and the small squares featured collections of seasonal fall flowers and berries-- some of our favorites--dahlias, freesia, tulips, scabiosa and berries.

 

This was the complementing centerpieces-- round vases with floating candles and flowers.  The brides requests included a mix of round and squares-the tables were a mix of shapes and candles!

 

A cute cocktail piece--leaving lots of room for those adult beverages!

This week's frequently asked question?

Do we design more than one wedding on a weekend?

The answer is yes.  Our design staff, (myself-Stephanie, Becky and Shannon) all maintain our own brides.

So that means that we frequently are designing at least 3 weddings, sometimes more if the events are on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  We successfully accomplish this each and every week-- we only create and design wedding flowers.  That means we are  never distracted with daily retail deliveries or any other distractions a retail business might bring.   I will say many times that being a retail florist is a tough job , I myself have spent many years in  that situation. I love being a wedding florist, we stay in tune with the latest trends, we are only buying wedding flowers--with multiple events our purchases allow us to be an important customer to our wholesalers.  We do have the occasional weekend where we will only design a single event- usually you will find us all creating beautiful flowers for our brides! I am lucky enough to have one of the greatest teams in Austin, from the talented to designers to the entire processing and delivery team, we handle our wedding flowers like they belonged personally to each of us!!

The Driskill Hotel weddings

 

This was the extraordinary head table at a wedding at The Driskill Hotel.

This table was 32 feet long and featured  8 tall, elaborate arrangements, filled with a variety square and cylindrical vases filled with both flowers and candles.

 

This custom made chuppah was placed on a stage in the ballroom-- The lush floral garlands covered the front and side perimeter, with the back featuring hundreds of suspended orchid blooms--

absolutely stunning!

 

The tables that surrounded the head table featured  low, colorful arrangements.  The ceremony took place in the ballroom, while the reception took place in the Mezzanine.

Barbara's booth

 

We had the pleasure of adding some finishing touches over at Barbara's booth-

check out her services if your looking for a wedding coordinator.

I think the collaboration turned out great--the cake (from Simon Lee bakery) was suspended on a glass circle on top of glass cylinders with a simple floral accent.  The garland around the table is a handmade equisetum garland-- I absolutely love it, looks like bamboo and adds an awesome texture to the clean, crisp white bengaline linens.

 

Barbara did this great treatment on the white chivari chairs-- reminds me of  modern,elegant summer event.

 

The details were great-- this cake has a small rhinestone garland at the base of each tier.  I love working with a great group of wedding professionals.

A few more favorites

 

Although summer is coming to a close, this bouquet brings back fond memories of fruity flavored sherberts-- simple and sweet, roses and yes, that is miniature carnations.

 

If you've read our blog for more than a moment you know we love orange flowers-- just a fun mix--roses, gerbera daisies, tulips, dahlia, celosia to name a few.

 

And then there's red--let me know if there is something in particular you would like to see or hear about.

Designer favorites from the BE

 

These phalaenopsis orchids arrived from Holland and we couldn't get enough of them--when a flower is this stunning, it makes our job as a floral designer super easy!

 

I personally love yellow flowers-- yellow roses, freesia and cymbidium orchids are selected in this design-- would be a gorgeous complement to many gowns.

 

If all garden roses looked, smelled and handled like these, life would be great-- I loved the scented geranium with the ruffled edges of the roses.

Bridal Extravaganza favorites

 

I'll be posting a few of the favorites from this past Sunday's Bridal Extravaganza.

It was great to see all of the brides in attendance, we'll look forward to hearing from you.

The bouquet above featured shades of blues and accented with the bright green--hydrangea, buttons,berries,spiders and delphinium-- this would be great with the many shades of blues.

 

One of the overwhelming favorites--greens and purples.  This was designed with a bride in mind--green hydrangea, purple stock, lisianthus and finished with green cymbidiums. Imagine the bridesmaids wearing any shade of  purple carrying green flowers and the bride carrying this combo of the colors!

 

Another favorite--succulents (did you see the succulent bouttonieire to match?) accented with lavenders/fuschia  with a pop of burgandy.  It also had the picasso mini callas--the cream with dark purple interiors.  What was your favorite?

Bridal Extravaganza 2009

 

This was one of my personal favorites from the June Bridal Extravaganza-

phalaenopsis orchids sprays and yellow roses--simply,elegant.

Whimsy

 

A few weeks ago I attended an industry networking event-this was one of our take home treats.

The cookies are cleverly displayed on a fondant covered base, so it looks like cake!

Another whimsical cake-- these types of cakes usually do not feature flowers--out of respect to the baker, the time and effort to create this should not be fussed up with flowers! 

Orange again!

 

A sweet,simple bridal bouquet- orange roses (this happens to be one of our favorite varieties) accented with stephanotis blossoms.

The many shades of orange

 

Orange is a perennial favorite--maybe it's those Longhorns or maybe because we have so many glorious flowers in shades of oranges--the orange gerbera daisies always provide a pop of color-they complemented the many shades of miniature calla lilies- yellow, mango and burgandy.

 

I love these shoes-- the was a summer bouquet--mango mini calla, circus roses and orange spray roses.

Most requested fall flowers

 

This bouttoniere showcases one of our most requested fall flowers-

mango mini calla, orange orchids and hypericum berries.

 

A fun fall collection- dahlia,orchids, Leondis roses, beried and a touch of fall foliage.
